An Evening with Penny Kittle
Writing with Passion: reimagining the teaching of writing
We must lead students to deepen their understanding of the flexibility and power of writing across genres to prepare them for university and civic life. We will study the moves writers make to enter a conversation in a text and have their say. This workshop will focus on the teacher's model of thinking & demonstration in writing as a most powerful teaching tool, the importance of practice writing in notebooks to hold first thinking alongside the daily practice in revision, the power of writing communities, and the decisions all writers must learn to make in writing.
