NYSRA 2016: The Power of Literacy

Letter from the Conference Committee Chair

Dear NYSRA 2016 Attendees,

Thank you so much for making our 2016 Annual Conference a resounding success. This was the first time in nearly ten years that the conference has been held in Western New York, and you made it an amazing success, with over 800 attendees over the two days of the conference. From the inspiring opening keynote address on Sunday morning from Lucy Calkins, through the closing two-hour institutes on Monday afternoon with Laura Robb and Tim Shanahan, the conference was full of demonstrations of “The Power of Literacy. Thanks to everyone who posted on the NYSRA Facebook and Twitter pages (@nysreading, #nysra2016, #thepowerofliteracy2016). You can view highlights from the conference at https://storify.com/nysreading/nysra-2016#publicize.

We are looking forward to returning to Rochester. If you have any feedback about the 2016 conference and/or suggestions for future conferences, you can send your comments to nysra2016@gmail.com, or complete the conference survey at https://goo.gl/forms/K3PX96JM5HuhfDlX2.
